Questions about Christmas markets in the East of England

When do Christmas markets start in the East of England?

In 2026 the Sandringham Christmas Craft, Food & Gift Fair opens first, from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November. Rougham Arts & Crafts Fair runs on five weekends from Saturday 14 November to Sunday 13 December, Ely Cathedral Christmas Gift & Food Fair is from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 November, and Peterborough Cathedral Christmas Craft & Gift Market from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November. St Edmundsbury Cathedral Christmas Market runs from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 November, Presents Galore from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November, Keech Christmas Market in Luton on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, Bishop's Stortford Christmas Fayre is on Saturday 5 December, and Holkham Christmas Market from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December. Dates for each market are on its card.

Are dogs allowed at Christmas markets in the East of England?

Sandringham and Holkham welcome dogs on a lead, while Rougham allows only assistance dogs and pet dogs are not allowed at Presents Galore. The Sandringham fair warns that it is noisy and some marquees have wooden flooring, so it suggests leaving a nervous dog at home. Holkham welcomes dogs at its outdoor stalls, but not in the Lady Elizabeth Wing. At Ely Cathedral only assistance dogs may go inside, Keech Christmas Market lets in only registered assistance dogs, and all of it is indoors, and St Edmundsbury Cathedral has not confirmed a dog rule for its market days.

Which Christmas markets in the East of England are free to enter?

Holkham Christmas Market is free to enter, though parking there is charged, and the Festive Village beside Ely Cathedral is free to walk into. The fairs inside Ely, Peterborough and St Edmundsbury cathedrals charge for entry, with under-16s free at Peterborough. Rougham charges for entry, with children aged 15 and under free, and the Sandringham fair and Presents Galore sell tickets, with under-16s free at Presents Galore. Keech Christmas Market takes payment at the door, with no booking needed and under-14s free.

Is there parking at Christmas markets in the East of England?

It varies from market to market. Rougham, Presents Galore, Keech Christmas Market and the Sandringham fair all have free parking. Ely Cathedral recommends its pre-booked Park & Ride, which drops off outside the Cathedral's main entrance. Peterborough Cathedral and St Edmundsbury Cathedral have no general public parking, though Peterborough has designated Blue Badge spaces in the Cathedral Precincts and Angel Hill car park is directly opposite St Edmundsbury.

Are Christmas markets in the East of England wheelchair accessible?

Several publish clear access information. Rougham says Blackthorpe Barn is step-free, with wheelchairs welcome everywhere. Ely Cathedral says it has step-free and ramp access throughout, though some floor surfaces are uneven, and St Edmundsbury Cathedral is wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets. The Sandringham fair is on grassed open ground, with disabled parking at the West Newton Entrance. Presents Galore says wheelchair users can reach the whole event. Keech Christmas Market is at Barnfield College, which offers step-free access and accessible toilets.

Every market is listed from the details its organisers and venues publish.
