Christmas Markets in Suffolk 2026

Updated 28 October 2026

3 Christmas markets and fairs in Suffolk are listed for 2026, and Rougham Arts & Crafts Fair opens first, on Saturday 14 November. Its makers sell their own work in Blackthorpe Barn, a thatched, timber-framed barn from around 1550, three miles east of Bury St Edmunds, on five weekends in a row, with a fresh line-up each weekend. In Bury St Edmunds itself, St Edmundsbury Cathedral sets up its Christmas market inside the building for three days, with carols and live music every day. At Newmarket, Presents Galore turns the Millennium Grandstand at Rowley Mile Racecourse into a Christmas shopping fair at the end of November, and all its ticket money goes to charity.

Markets in this guide: Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Rougham.

Questions about Christmas markets in Suffolk

When do Christmas markets start in Suffolk?

In 2026 Rougham Arts & Crafts Fair opens first, on Saturday 14 November, and is open every Saturday and Sunday until Sunday 13 December. St Edmundsbury Cathedral Christmas Market follows, running Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 November, and Presents Galore opens on Friday 27 November and closes on Sunday 29, starting with an evening session from 4pm to 8pm on the Friday. The cards give each market's dates.

Are dogs allowed at Christmas markets in Suffolk?

Not at Rougham or Presents Galore, and the cathedral has yet to confirm a dog rule for its market days. Only assistance dogs may come into the Rougham fair, and Presents Galore does not allow pet dogs on site. The cathedral welcomes well-behaved dogs on leads in general, but has not said whether that holds while the market is on.

Are Christmas markets in Suffolk free to enter?

No: Rougham Arts & Crafts Fair, St Edmundsbury Cathedral Christmas Market and Presents Galore each charge for entry. Children aged 15 and under go free at Rougham, and under-16s at Presents Galore, where one ticket covers all three days.

Is there parking at Christmas markets in Suffolk?

At Rougham and Presents Galore, yes, and it is free. Rougham's car parks close when Roots Café at the barn closes. St Edmundsbury Cathedral has no public parking of its own, but the public car park on Angel Hill faces it, and the Ram Meadow and Parkway car parks are nearby.

Can I get to Suffolk's Christmas markets without a car?

For some, yes. Bury St Edmunds railway station is about 15 minutes' walk from St Edmundsbury Cathedral. For Rougham, Thurston Station is about 40 minutes' walk from Blackthorpe Barn, and a bus from Bury St Edmunds stops at Blackthorpe, White House, from Monday to Saturday.

Are Suffolk's Christmas markets wheelchair accessible?

Each has published some access information. Blackthorpe Barn, home of the Rougham fair, has no steps and every indoor area takes a wheelchair, though the rural paths can be muddy. St Edmundsbury Cathedral says the building is wheelchair accessible, and an accessible toilet is among the limited toilets open during the market. Presents Galore says the whole event can be reached by wheelchair.

Every market is listed from the details its organisers and venues publish.
