Questions about Christmas markets in the West Midlands

When do Christmas markets start in the West Midlands?

In 2026 the first to open is Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market, which runs from Thursday 5 November to Thursday 24 December. The Trentham Christmas Makers Markets are on three weekends: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, and Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December. Stoneleigh Winter Fair is on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre runs from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 December, and the Compton Verney Gift Fair from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December. Every card gives the exact dates.

Are dogs allowed at Christmas markets in the West Midlands?

It differs from market to market. Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market welcomes assistance dogs and asks that dogs be on a lead and controlled at all times. The Fold Christmas Market says it is super dog friendly, and Hellens Christmas Craft Market welcomes friendly dogs on a lead. Middleton Hall Christmas Market welcomes well-behaved dogs on a lead in the gardens, but only assistance dogs and guide dogs in the Hall. The Trentham Estate welcomes dogs on a short lead in its gardens and Shopping Village, except on certain event days, and has not said whether market days are among them. NAEC Stoneleigh welcomes assistance animals and guide dogs. Compton Verney has published no dog rule for the Gift Fair, which is held indoors in its galleries, though dogs on leads are welcome at the venue generally, in the Welcome Centre, grounds and meadow. Stoneleigh Winter Fair and the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre say nothing about dogs.

Is there parking at Christmas markets in the West Midlands?

Yes: Trentham, Stoneleigh and Compton Verney have free parking, and at Trentham one of the two main car parks is next to the Shopping Village. Compton Verney has dedicated Blue Badge spaces directly in front of its Welcome Centre. In Worcester, the city centre car parks get very busy during the Fayre, so the Fayre suggests arriving early or travelling another way, and describes Park & Ride as a popular option. Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market is in the city centre, where many car parks have spaces reserved for disabled drivers or passengers.

Can I get to the West Midlands Christmas markets without a car?

Yes, for the city markets. Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market is in the city centre, and trains, trams and buses all run into the city centre. Worcester Foregate Street station is about 0.3 miles from the Worcester Fayre and Shrub Hill station about 0.6 miles, and the city has a central bus station. Banbury, Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Parkway are the stations nearest to Compton Verney, and a taxi from any of them takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the station.

Are any West Midlands Christmas markets open in the evening?

Yes. Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market keeps going until at least 9pm every day. The Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre's street market is open until 9pm on Thursday and Friday and until 8pm on Saturday.

Every market is listed from the details its organisers and venues publish.
