Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market
Every winter a German Christmas market takes over the middle of Birmingham. Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market returns each year as part of the city's annual calendar and draws residents and visitors alike. It fills Victoria Square and carries on down New Street from early November until Christmas Eve, with more than 80 stalls built in the Bavarian style selling gifts made by hand. To eat there is bratwurst, pretzels and schnitzel, with glühwein, which is mulled wine, to drink. Musicians play festive tunes live, and there are twinkling lights too. Trains, trams and buses all bring you into the city centre, and the market suits families, couples and tourists.
