Updated 28 October 2026
4 Christmas markets and fairs in Devon are listed for 2026, and Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market is the first to open, on Friday 13 November. Exeter's market fills Cathedral Green in the city centre with chalets for a month, and the Cathedral is open for sightseeing alongside. At Westpoint, the Devon County Showground at Clyst St Mary, the Christmas Shopping Fayre fills the halls for three days of festive shopping, with a free Santa's Grotto. On three Tuesday evenings in December, Totnes fills its streets with artisan stalls and keeps its independent shops open until 9pm.

Questions about Christmas markets in Devon
When do Christmas markets start in Devon?
Devon's first is Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market, open daily from Friday 13 November until Sunday 13 December 2026. Buckfast Abbey's market follows, Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 November, the Christmas Shopping Fayre at Westpoint takes the weekend of Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November, and Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping is on Tuesday 8, 15 and 22 December. Each card shows the dates.
Are dogs allowed at Christmas markets in Devon?
It depends on the market. Buckfast Abbey welcomes dogs kept on a short lead, even inside its Abbot's Way Café and Grange Restaurant. In Exeter, dogs on leads may come into the open-air parts of the market, though only assistance dogs may enter the Cathedral. At Westpoint, dogs are not permitted inside the main exhibition hall; only assistance dogs are allowed. Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping has not said whether dogs are welcome.
Are any Christmas markets in Devon open in the evening?
Yes. Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market stays open until 9pm from Thursday to Saturday and until 7pm from Monday to Wednesday. Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping runs from 3pm to 9pm on its Tuesdays, though the organisers say the timings are subject to change.
Can I get to Devon's Christmas markets without a car?
Yes. Cathedral Green is a walk from both Exeter Central and Exeter St Davids stations. Buckfast Abbey's free Christmas shuttle bus runs on each of its market days, and riders get into the market free. For Westpoint, the 9 or 9A bus leaves from Paris Street in Exeter, though not on Sundays. In Totnes, a free shuttle bus serves the station from 5pm to 10pm on the market evenings.
Is there parking at Christmas markets in Devon?
Buckfast Abbey and Westpoint both have free parking. For Exeter, the market recommends the Park and Ride and the city-centre car parks, but the Matford Park and Ride does not run on Sundays. In Totnes, the town-centre car parks charge nothing after 6pm, and the Park and Ride from Follaton House is free on the market evenings.
