Christmas Markets in Surrey 2026

Updated 28 October 2026

6 Christmas markets and fairs in Surrey are listed for 2026, and Farnham Maltings Christmas Fair comes first, on Wednesday 18 November. For two days the Maltings, a registered charity on Bridge Square, gives its whole building over to Christmas shopping, with stallholders selling handmade gifts, crafts, food and drink. Guildford Cathedral, on Stag Hill at the town's edge, hosts a two-day fair where makers, artisans and specialists sell art and craft, independent fashion, jewellery and luxury food and drink. In Godalming, stalls line High Street, Church Street and Crown Court for a Saturday, the Mayor opens the day at The Pepperpot, and Father Christmas keeps a free grotto in the Museum Garden.

Markets in this guide: Esher, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Haslemere and West Horsley.

Questions about Christmas markets in Surrey

When do Christmas markets start in Surrey?

In 2026 Surrey's first is Farnham Maltings Christmas Fair, on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 November; it stays open until 9pm on the Wednesday and closes at 5pm on the Thursday. Guildford Cathedral Christmas Fair follows two days later, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November, open 10am to 4pm each day, and the Godalming Christmas Festival Market fills Saturday 28 November, from 10am to about 4.30pm. Every card carries the market's own dates.

Are dogs allowed at Christmas markets in Surrey?

Guildford Cathedral Christmas Fair, Farnham Maltings Christmas Fair and the Godalming Christmas Festival Market have not published a rule for pet dogs. Guildford Cathedral welcomes guide, assistance and hearing dogs at all times, and registered assistance dogs are welcome throughout the Farnham Maltings building.

Which Christmas markets in Surrey are free to enter?

The Godalming Christmas Festival Market is free to enter, and so is Father Christmas's grotto there, where each child receives a gift. Guildford Cathedral Christmas Fair charges for entry, and tickets are sold at the door. Farnham Maltings Christmas Fair is ticketed too, with tickets bookable in advance for each day and also sold at the door on both days, and under-18s go in free.

Is there parking at Christmas markets in Surrey?

Yes, and the terms differ from town to town. Visitors to the Godalming festival can park free at Godalming College until its spaces run out. Guildford Cathedral has two-hour parking on site for visitors, and says events may bring overflow parking with charges. At Farnham Maltings, the car park in front of the building charges every day, Blue Badge holders park free in eight spaces, and the Maltings points to the Waggon Yard Car Park if its own is full.

Can I reach Surrey's Christmas markets by train?

Yes, for the Farnham and Guildford fairs. Farnham station is five minutes on foot from the Maltings, and Guildford railway station about ten minutes' uphill walk from the Cathedral; no bus comes up to the Cathedral itself, but several routes stop at the foot of Stag Hill. The Godalming festival has published no train or bus details.

Are Surrey's Christmas markets wheelchair accessible?

Guildford Cathedral and Farnham Maltings have both published access details; the Godalming festival has not. At Guildford, a ramp at the West entrance gives wheelchair access to the ground floor, there is a wheelchair lift at the North Door, wheelchairs are available inside and a disabled toilet faces the shop, though parts of the Cathedral have steps. At Farnham Maltings, the ground floor holds a main entrance, Box Office and riverside café, the Great Hall and the other rooms are reached by stairs or lift, and wheelchair users reach the first-floor accessible toilet only through the Tannery; the second accessible toilet is on the ground floor.

Every market is listed from the details its organisers and venues publish.
