Christmas Markets in Hampshire 2026

Updated 28 October 2026

6 Christmas markets and fairs in Hampshire are listed for 2026, and Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market leads off on Friday 20 November. Winchester's market fills the grounds around the cathedral with wooden chalets in the style of German Christmas markets, and stays open until Tuesday 22 December. At Weyhill, west of Andover, the Hawk Conservancy Trust, a charity that protects birds of prey, sets out its stalls under cover for four days in late November, three of them running into the evening. Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, which rebuilds old Hampshire streets under one roof, gives its cobbled Victorian lanes to a Christmas market for a December weekend. In the centre of Petersfield, a free Christmas market is held on Sunday 13 December.

Markets in this guide: Basingstoke, Exbury, Petersfield, Romsey, Weyhill and Winchester.

Questions about Christmas markets in Hampshire

When do Christmas markets start in Hampshire?

Hampshire's first is Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market, open every day from Friday 20 November to Tuesday 22 December 2026. The Hawk Conservancy Trust's market follows from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 November, Milestones follows on the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, and Petersfield Christmas Market is on Sunday 13 December. The card for each market shows its dates.

Are dogs allowed at Christmas markets in Hampshire?

Hampshire's markets have not published dog rules of their own, and that includes Petersfield Christmas Market. For visitors with a dog at Winchester, the cathedral suggests a quieter weekday, as weekends can be very busy, and Milestones Museum welcomes guide and assistance dogs.

Which Christmas markets in Hampshire are free to enter?

Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market is free to enter, and no pre-booking is needed. The Hawk Conservancy Trust Christmas Market sells tickets in advance or on the door, and its ticket does not include entry to the park or the flying displays. Milestones Christmas Market sells tickets. Petersfield Christmas Market is free to enter as well, with sponsorship keeping it free.

Are any Christmas markets in Hampshire open in the evening?

Yes: Winchester, the Hawk Conservancy Trust and Milestones each have later opening on at least one day. Winchester's chalets close at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and at 6pm from Sunday to Thursday. At the Hawk Conservancy Trust, the Thursday, Friday and Saturday sessions (26, 27 and 28 November) run from 3.30pm to 7.30pm, and Sunday 29 November from 11am to 3pm. Milestones Christmas Market is open until 7pm on Saturday 5 December and until 4.45pm on Sunday 6 December. Petersfield Christmas Market runs from 10am to 3.30pm.

Is there parking at Christmas markets in Hampshire?

The Hawk Conservancy Trust and Milestones Museum both have free parking, but Winchester Cathedral has none within the Close. The Trust suggests car-sharing because the market is popular. At Milestones, the free spaces in front of the museum may be kept for Blue Badge holders on event days, and other visitors are asked to use the leisure park's other car parks. For Winchester, the cathedral strongly recommends the train or the Park and Ride. Petersfield Christmas Market has published no parking details.

Are Christmas markets in Hampshire wheelchair accessible?

It varies from market to market. At Winchester, everything within the inner close can be reached without stairs except the Dean Garnier Garden, and there are disabled toilets in the Fleury building and Cafe. Milestones has two lifts and accessible toilets on both levels; its Victorian and Edwardian areas have cobbled floors and tramlines, but wheelchairs can be borrowed and a route map avoids most of the cobbles. At the Hawk Conservancy Trust, most walkways are laid paths with some natural unevenness, and the market has not confirmed other access details. Petersfield Christmas Market has not confirmed access details either.

Every market is listed from the details its organisers and venues publish.
