Godalming Christmas Festival Market
Godalming gives a Saturday over to Christmas, with stalls lining High Street, Church Street and Crown Court in a town the council counts among Surrey's prettiest. Local producers stock the stalls with presents, jewellery and decorations made by hand, there is Christmas fare and street food and drinks from artisan traders, and the town's independent shops are open too. The Mayor gets things going at The Pepperpot just before 10am, a school choir follows, and festive music and performances carry on through the day. Children can call on Father Christmas in his free grotto in the Museum Garden, where a visit comes with a gift and a wish letter to post, then have their faces painted and try the fun fair rides. Entry costs nothing, and parking at Godalming College is free while spaces last.
