Wensleydale Show
Held on the Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend, the Wensleydale Show is a proper Dales farming day on the showfield at Leyburn, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Cattle, sheep, light and heavy horses and carriage driving fill the rings, sheepdog trials run alongside, and there's dry stone walling, walking sticks and vintage tractors and cars to admire. Indoors you'll find handicrafts, homecrafts, a flower and vegetable show and a marquee of locally made food and drink, while outside there's terrier racing, a children's fun area and a big trade-stand field to wander. Parking is free and dogs are welcome outside the marquees, so it's an easy end-of-summer day out in Wensleydale.
