Sykehouse Show
Sykehouse Show dates back to the 1880s, and some of today's committee are descended from its founders. It's held on the first Sunday in August at Poplars Farm, in the countryside north of Doncaster. Several horse rings carry in-hand, ridden, mountain and moorland, heavy and agricultural horse classes, show jumping and gymkhana games, alongside cattle, sheep and rare breeds, tractors and vintage vehicles, horticulture, home crafts and arts and crafts. There's a fun dog show with entries on the day, trade stalls, food and a licensed bar, and the day ends with the sheaf tossing final, a fitting finish to a traditional South Yorkshire show.
