Otley Show
Otley Show traces its roots to 1796, when local farmers first competed with their livestock in the town, and each May it fills the showground at Bridge End, a short walk from Otley town centre. Run by the Wharfedale Agricultural Society, it's a full working show, with cattle, sheep and horse classes, showjumping, a farriers' competition, and produce, handicrafts and eggs. Well over a hundred trade and craft stands make up the trade stand village, with a farmers' market and Yorkshire-made crafts, and there's terrier racing, a tug of war and plenty for children. Bring the dog for the companion dog show, which takes entries on the day, for a spring day out in Wharfedale.
