When is Kilmacolm & Port Glasgow Show 2027?
Saturday 8 May 2027. The show is held on the second Saturday of every May.
Where is the show held?
At the Knapps, Bridge of Weir Road, Kilmacolm, PA13 4RU. The field has no postcode of its own, but that postcode takes satnav to the road the show is on; the what3words address is ponies.everyone.streamers. Coming from Glasgow, the show's directions take the M8 east to junction 28A onto the A737, then the B789 and A761, and the showfield is on the right just before Kilmacolm. From Greenock and the A8, take the A761 into Kilmacolm; the showfield is on the left just after leaving Kilmacolm.
Is there parking, and a bus?
Parking in the main car park is free, but spaces are limited and the car park may close if full. A free shuttle bus runs all day from 10am to close, between The Cross in Kilmacolm and the Gordon Porter Gate. Limited Blue Badge parking is at the Gordon Porter Gate and must be booked in advance with the show's Secretary.
How much does it cost to get in?
At the 2025 show admission was adults £10, concessions, carers and 12 to 16 year olds £5, and under 12s free. The 2027 prices are to be confirmed by the show, so check its website before you travel.
What time does the show start and finish?
The entry gates open to visitors at 9am, and the show usually runs until about 3.30 to 5pm depending on the weather and when classes finish. The programme on the show's website for the 2026 show started cattle judging at 10am, the Clydesdale parade at 12 noon, the pipe band at 1pm, the parade of prize winners at 1.30pm, the vintage tractor parade at 2pm and the hobby horse races at 2.30pm; check the website for the 2027 programme.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. Well behaved dogs are very welcome, especially in the dog classes, but they must be kept on a lead at all times and not left in cars. There is no running water on site, so bring water for your dog. There is a companion dog show in the Dog Ring, with entries taken on the day.
Is the show accessible?
Wheelchair access is limited because the showfield is uneven, unmown ground; some of it is completely inaccessible and the flat area around the main ring may be accessible depending on your mobility. There are disabled toilets with baby changing facilities, and Blue Badge parking must be booked in advance with the Secretary. Medics are on site all day.
Is there food and drink, and can I pay by card?
There is a range of food and drink on offer, including a bar, and you can bring a picnic (a blanket helps if the ground is damp). There is no running water, so you cannot top up water bottles. There is no cash machine on site; the nearest is in Kilmacolm. Card and cash are taken at the entry gates, the Light Horse Tent, the bar and the Secretary's Tent, though card payments can be unreliable if reception is poor; traders set their own payment options.
What is there to see and do?
Cattle, sheep, Clydesdale horses and dogs compete in their rings, with light horse classes, a Homecraft Tent and the Knapps Nature Experience, where you can meet animals, try milking a model cow and see a bee colony. Entertainment includes hobby horse races, vintage tractors, a pipe band, dancers and dry stone walling, and there are trade stands with food, drink, crafts and funfair rides.
How do I enter a class or take a trade stand?
The show's schedule, with the rules and class lists, is on its website, and classes (homecraft, cattle, dogs and others) can be entered online through the Classes pages; dog classes can also be entered on the day at the Dog Ring. Trade stand applications and advert and sponsorship bookings are on the Trade/Adverts pages of the show's website; check there for the 2027 forms.
