Hesket Newmarket Agricultural Show
Hesket Newmarket Agricultural Show is a traditional one-day village show held on a field at Newlands, just below the village of Hesket Newmarket, near Caldbeck in the northern Lake District fells of Cumbria. The 2027 show is expected on Saturday 4 September, to be confirmed by the show; in recent years it has been held on the Saturday after the August bank holiday. It is a working farming show with classes for heavy horses, light horses and mountain and moorland ponies, cattle, a long list of sheep breeds including Herdwicks and Swaledales, sheepdogs, foxhounds, terriers and gundogs, plus vintage vehicles. The industrial and horticultural tent holds baking, crafts, art and photography, and there are pet dog classes and children's fancy dress. The day finishes with the champion of champions and grand parade, Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling and terrier racing.
