Great Harwood Agricultural Show
Held every Spring Bank Holiday Monday, Great Harwood Show is a proper Lancashire farming day out between Blackburn and Clitheroe, run by a society that has been putting on shows since 1857. On its own 40-acre showground off Whalley Road, the rings fill with cattle, sheep, heavy horses and Shetland ponies, show jumping runs through the day, and there are pygmy goats, rabbits and rows of vintage vehicles and machinery to wander between. Bring the dog, too: there's a pet dog show you can enter on the day. Parking and children's activities are both free, and with craft and trade stands to browse and plenty to eat and drink, it's an easy family day out to start the summer.
