Grasmere Lakeland Sports & Show
Grasmere Lakeland Sports & Show is a one-day traditional Lakeland sports day and country show on the Showfield at Stock Lane in Grasmere, in the heart of the Lake District. The 2027 event is on Sunday 29 August, the Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend, and entry at the gate is free. Its first regular sports meeting was held in 1868, and it began life as a sheep show; the old Lakeland sports are still at its centre: Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, fell running including the Guides Race, hound trails, sprints and track races, junior athletics, tug of war and English stone lifting. Alongside the sport there is an agricultural show run with local farming partners, a pet dog show with classes through the day, classic cars, a crafting tent, a paragliding hike-and-fly, music and children's fun races.
