Ennerdale Show
A mile from Ennerdale Water, in the Lake District, Ennerdale Show began in 1895 as a flower show and a treat for the schoolchildren, started by local farmers and businessmen to support the village school. Sheep joined in 1900 and, since 1990, the show has made its home at The Leaps, Kirkland. Today you can watch sheep, horses and dogs being shown, see vintage machinery from the rural past, and browse a marquee of things made and grown close to home. The afternoon brings fell races for adults and children, children's sports, four hound trails and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling. There is hot and cold food and a licensed bar, with local ale and ice cream.
