Egton Show
Egton Show is a proper North York Moors horse and agricultural show, held on a Wednesday in late August on the showfield at Egton, near Whitby, and staged more than 130 times. Cleveland Bays and other agricultural horses lead the way, with ponies, cattle, sheep, dairy goats and sheepdog trials, pigeons and ferrets, and a companion dog show open to all dogs. The marquees carry horticulture, cookery, honey, crafts, shepherds' crooks and children's classes, and there's vintage machinery, trade stands, fairground rides and refreshments around the field. On show day buses run from Whitby and from Egton station, so it's easy to make a day of it.
