Appleby Show is a one-day agricultural show held on the second Thursday of August at Hanging Shaw Fields on Long Marton Road, Appleby-in-Westmorland, in Cumbria. The 2027 show is expected to be on Thursday 12 August, to be confirmed by the show. The Appleby Agricultural Society was founded in 1841, and 2026 was its 185th show. Classes cover sheep, cattle, poultry, vintage machinery, dogs, children's pets, produce, handicrafts and horticulture, with a wide equestrian programme including veterans, Fell and Dales ponies, mountain and moorland, sports horses, working hunter, handy pony and a concours d'elegance. Around the main ring there is Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, a grand parade of livestock and vintage vehicles, children's sports and entertainment, craft exhibitors and trade stands. Under-10s go free, parking is free, and a free taxi runs from the town centre.

There's a dog show in the main ring at midday with fun classes such as best trick and the dog the judge would like to take home — you can enter on the field — followed by dog racing, where dogs run muzzled (muzzles can be provided). The show publishes no other dog rules, so check with the society if you have questions.

On the day in 2026, card payments were taken only at the Equine Gate, Gate 2 and the Livestock Gate, so bring cash if you're using another entrance. Society subscribers of £10 or more get in free with their receipt.
What time does it open?
2027 times haven't been published. In 2026 the showground opened at 8am, judging began at 10am, the dog show started at midday, and the grand parade of vintage vehicles and livestock was at 3pm.
