South Suffolk Show

Sunday 9 May 2027 (to be confirmed)
Ampton Racecourse, Ingham, Suffolk(IP31 1NS)

The South Suffolk Show began in 1888 as the Wickhambrook & District Filly and Colt Show, and since 1986 it has made its home on the Ampton point-to-point course near Ingham, a few miles out of Bury St Edmunds. Each May crowds of 10,000 and more gather for a one-day agricultural show with horses, livestock and country life on 95 acres. An equine village takes in showjumpers, hunters, retrained racehorses and gypsy cobs, and the Suffolk Heavy Horses are billed as the county's favourite. Master and apprentice farriers compete, the Sheep Show and gundog scurries are among the attractions, well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, with a fun dog show too. More than 150 trade stands fill the showground alongside the Food Hall and Eat Street, and a public bar serves local ales. Parking is free.
