Over 100 stalls of Christmas presents, festive food and drink fill the Ripon Cathedral Christmas Food & Gift Fair on a Friday and a Saturday this November. The fair is held at Ripon Cathedral, in the heart of Ripon, one of England's smallest cities, in North Yorkshire; the cathedral's Anglo-Saxon crypt, which dates to 672 AD, is the oldest part of any English cathedral still in use. It is a fundraiser: what it makes goes to the cathedral's education work, its music and the care of its heritage, and to its mission across the Diocese of Leeds and North Yorkshire. Entry is £5, under-16s go free without a ticket, and the city has a wide choice of cafés, independent shops and restaurants.

Where can I park, and how do I get there?
The nearest parking is St Mary Gate and Cathedral Car Park, about 150 yards from the cathedral. Parking arrangements for the fair itself have not yet been announced. Bus 36 runs every 20 minutes from Harrogate or Leeds, and the nearest railway station is Harrogate, with a connecting 36 bus from Ripon at least every half hour during visiting hours. There are cycle racks north of the cathedral and behind the noticeboards on the west front.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are not permitted in the cathedral, for hygiene and safety reasons. Assistance dogs are welcome.
