Picton Show

Saturday 17 July 2027 (to be confirmed)
Show field, Picton, North Yorkshire(TS15 0AE)

Since 1948, Picton Show has brought sports, a gymkhana and a horticultural tent to a field in this North Yorkshire village, three miles from Yarm, on the third Saturday of July. Small and friendly by its own account, it welcomes riders and young horses and ponies just starting out, with three rings carrying showjumping, showing and working hunter classes, plus gymkhana races. In the tent, vegetables, flowers and floral art sit alongside baking, preserves, knitting and corn and hay, while vintage tractors and stationary engines are judged too. There is a bar on the field, and the sports ring has children's sports, fancy dress, team bale rolling and a pet dog show taking entries on the day, with prizes for the waggiest tail and the dog most like its owner.
