Pembroke Castle Christmas Market
Every November, Pembroke Castle, the fortress the Normans founded in 1093 and the place where Henry VII, first of the Tudor kings, was born, opens its Outer Ward to a Christmas market. Launched in 2012, the Pembroke Castle Christmas Market gathers more than 80 stalls of gifts, toys, clothing, jewellery and local produce, with goods from across Pembrokeshire and west Wales. Carol singers from local schools and local musicians play in the marquee all weekend. On the Friday the market stays open into the evening and Santa arrives at half past six; on Saturday and Sunday children can visit him in his grotto, with the £3 a visit going to charity. Entry costs nothing: book a free ticket ahead through the castle's website and come for one day, two or all three.
