Kirkby Fleetham Feast
The Kirkby Fleetham Floral and Horticultural Society's yearly show, known affectionately as the Feast, goes back to a first show in August 1876 in this North Yorkshire village. Every August the Village Green fills with produce and craft tents where villagers and visitors try for prizes and cups, in classes from vegetables, flowers and floral art to bygones, a limerick, men's baking and a Farmers section, with sections for children and young people. There are arena events to watch or take part in, coffee and cake in the village hall and a drink for anyone wanting something stronger. Above all it is a family day out, and a chance to see familiar faces and meet new ones.
