Hope Show
Each August Bank Holiday Monday, Hope Show brings farmers and countryside lovers to Hope, in the Peak District National Park, for a day at one of Derbyshire's major summer agricultural shows. Its sheepdog trials carry on into Tuesday, each dog given nine minutes to bring its sheep from outrun to pen. Up to 100 cattle and around 700 sheep are shown, with Derbyshire Gritstone and Whiteface Woodland champions of champions, and the public vote on the cattle in the Housewives' Choice. Add shearing demonstrations, heavy and light horses, show jumping, vintage cars, tractors and barn engines, and an auction of homemade cakes and lemon curd once the trophies are handed out. Your dog can come too, on a lead and on its best behaviour.
