When is the Hestercombe Christmas Market?
It runs on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 December 2026. Entry is by timed slot, from 10am on both days, and the market is open until 4pm.
Where is the market and how do I get there?
At Hestercombe House & Gardens, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton, Somerset, TA2 8LG. Hestercombe asks drivers to use TA2 8LQ for sat nav and gives the what3words address ///fancy.arena.tanks. From the M5, take Junction 25 and follow the brown daisy signs along the A358 towards Taunton, then follow Cheddon Road and Lyngford Lane through Cheddon Fitzpaine and bear left up Pitchers Hill; the entrance is on the right, about 0.4 miles up. Do not turn onto Hestercombe Road, which leads to the farm. The nearest railway station is Taunton, with taxi ranks at the station and in the town centre.
Where do I park?
Parking spaces are limited, so Hestercombe asks you to come as a group and car share where you can. There are four Blue Badge spaces on site that do not need booking in advance. People who need to be dropped off can be set down at the front of Hestercombe House, and the driver then parks in the main visitor car park.
How much does it cost, and do I need to book?
Entry is by timed slot, booked ahead. For the 2026 market an adult ticket is £8 for the earlier slots and £7 for the later slots; Hestercombe members pay £6 and £5 and need to show proof of membership. Children under 15 are free. The ticket includes entry to the house and garden. The date and time of a booking cannot be changed, tickets cannot be moved to another date or time, and refunds are not offered. Booking is through the market page of the Hestercombe website, which is also where to check when tickets go on sale.
What is there to see and buy?
More than 60 independent businesses, artists and makers from Somerset and the South West take part, all chosen by the organisers with quality, creativity and sustainability in mind. Expect handmade gifts, artisan produce, homewares, art and festive treats, with ceramics, jewellery, textiles, prints and cards, candles and skincare, and home and wood gifts among the stallholders.
Is there food and drink?
Food and drink makers are among the stallholders, selling artisan produce and festive treats.
Who runs the market?
The Somerset Collective organises it in partnership with Hestercombe. Hestercombe says the Collective has run pop-up markets since 2016, favours ethical production and small creative businesses, and raises money for charity through its events.
Are dogs allowed?
Pets are not allowed indoors at Hestercombe House or Bampfylde Hall. Hestercombe says dogs are very welcome on a lead throughout the gardens, and its terms ask for short leads in all areas of the garden; dogs should not be left in cars. Hestercombe also welcomes assistance dogs, including in the house.
Is the market accessible for wheelchair users?
This is Hestercombe's access information for the whole site. The ground floor of Hestercombe House, with its exhibitions and toilets, is wheelchair accessible, but the first floor is not. Fully accessible toilets are at the Ticket Office entrance, the Visitor Centre courtyard and café, Hestercombe House and the Mill, and the House has a Changing Places toilet, designed for people with multiple and complex disabilities. Many paths are uneven, with gravel, flagstones and stone steps, and the Victorian Terrace, Great Plat and Orangery are reached by steps. A yellow all-access route is marked on the Guide Map.
Can carers come with me, and can I have a stall?
Essential carers are free: buy your own ticket, then email the organiser with the documentation, using the address on the market page. Sellers can sign up through The Somerset Collective's website.
