Henley Show began as a ploughing match: a Henley landowner decided in 1891 to stage one for 1892, and in 1899 the first expanded show took place. It has run every year since, apart from the two World Wars, 1952 and 2020. Today the Henley Farm & Country Show is at Greenlands Farm, Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, near Henley-on-Thames, organised by an association with some 500 members. Cattle and sheep rings include young handlers' classes, heavy horses have classes of their own, and there is show jumping open to all riders. The produce tent hosts baking, handicraft, photographic, giant vegetable and scarecrow contests; classic cars and vintage tractors are judged and paraded; traders sell food, wine, crafts and shopping. The dog show takes entries on the day.
