Glastonbury Frost Fayre
Glastonbury Frost Fayre is this Somerset town's own Christmas celebration, organised by Glastonbury Town Council around a message of peace and goodwill. Through the day, performers appear on five stages spread across the High Street, Benedict Street, Magdalene Street, Northload Street and Archers Way, and buskers play at the Busk Stop by St John's Church. Stalls fill the streets and carry on inside Glastonbury Abbey House and three of the town's churches, while the shops stay open late. Younger visitors have fairground rides in St Dunstan's Car Park, storytelling and children's shows, and can make a lantern ready for the switch-on. Say hello to Father Frost, out with the Mayor and Town Crier, then head for the Market Square as its Christmas tree is lit at five.
