Dalston Show

Saturday 8 August 2026
The Village Show Field, Dalston, Carlisle, Cumbria(CA5 7QB)

Dalston Show has been a popular fixture on the Cumbrian show calendar since the 19th century, held each August on the Village Show Field at Dalston, just south of Carlisle. A traditional village agricultural show with a full programme of entertainment, it draws horse and livestock breeders from across Cumbria, the North of England and South-West Scotland, while local families fill almost 200 classes in the Industrial section. More than 80 trade stands line the field, with caterers and speciality bars keeping everyone fed and watered. The Main Ring is the heart of the day, with a lively mix that has included a BMX arena display, terrier racing and the ever-popular Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, before the Raughton Head Young Farmers take on their end-of-day challenge. Around the field there is plenty more — heavy horses and the newer ridden heavy horse classes, a Concours d'Elegance, a mobile zoo, children's entertainers and music from the Border Concert Band. It is a friendly, well-run day with a genuinely Cumbrian character.
