Castleton Show

Saturday 11 September 2027 (to be confirmed)
Castleton Cricket Field, Castleton, North Yorkshire(YO21 2EU)

Castleton Show has been staged since 1891 by the Floral & Horticultural Society of Castleton and Danby, and today this family country show fills the cricket field in the North York Moors National Park, with local volunteers putting it on. In the competitions, exhibitors vie for the heaviest onion and the longest thistle, bake Fat Rascals, sculpt animals out of fruit and veg, and the men take on a Victoria sponge class of their own. Out on the field there's the Castleton Show Run, a junior cross country, children's foot sports, a tug of war and the Scruffs Dog Show, alongside vintage engines, cars and motorbikes. A beer tent raises funds for the cricket club, and the railway station is a five-minute walk away.
