Cartmel Agricultural Show

Wednesday 5 August 2026
Cartmel Park, Cartmel, Cumbria(LA11 6QF)

Affectionately known to locals as the "Royal" Cartmel Show, the Cartmel Agricultural Show is a traditional country show with a big heart, held in the beautiful village of Cartmel on the fringes of the Lake District. It has been staged on Cartmel Park — provided by the Holker Group — since 1897. Across a single August day the rings fill with cattle, sheep, light and heavy horses, carriage driving and the ever-popular terrier racing, while one of the show's best-loved moments is the mounted fancy dress, where local ponies and riders compete in colourful home-made costumes. Beyond the rings there is Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, an agricultural education centre with sheep-shearing and milking demonstrations, vintage tractors and vehicles, a Food Theatre with acclaimed chefs, and marquees full of horticulture, home baking, crafts and Village Industries. Children have plenty to do — archery, circus skills, a bouncy castle, birds of prey and a mini zoo — making it a genuine family day out in a glorious South Lakeland setting.
