When is Cardiff Christmas Market on?
The market runs from Thursday 12 November to Wednesday 23 December 2026.
What are the opening times?
Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm, with a late night to 7pm every Thursday in December. Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Is it free to visit?
Yes. There is no entrance fee.
What can I find at the market?
About 70 stalls at a time of arts and crafts, seasonal food and drink, with live demonstrations of makers' skills. The stalls are a rolling programme of over 200 individual businesses, because some makers trade for only part of the market, so the line-up changes through the season. The market is outdoors, with hot mulled wine and a selection of food to warm you up.
Where is the market?
In St John Street, Working Street, Trinity Street and Hills Street, in the main shopping pedestrian areas of Cardiff city centre. The market's website has a map of the stalls and a link to Google Maps.
How do I get there?
Cardiff Central railway station is a 5-minute walk from the market. By road, junction 32 of the M4 is the most direct route into the city centre. If you come by coach, all coach arrivals and departures use Sophia Gardens (CF11 9HW) because Cardiff Central Bus Station is closed, and it is then a 15-minute walk to the start of the market in St John Street. Bus journeys can be planned on the Cardiff Bus website. You can also take a water taxi from Cardiff Bay, with a ten-minute walk from the Cardiff Castle stop to the market.
Where can I park?
Cardiff has pay and display and NCP car parks throughout the city, and several Park & Rides across the city. Blue Badge holders can use the Blue Badge parking map linked from the Visit page of the market's website.
Are dogs allowed?
The market's website does not say whether dogs are welcome.
Is the market accessible?
The market's website does not confirm wheelchair or step-free access on the stalls. It says the free City Centre Mobility Service carries disabled and elderly passengers around the pedestrianised city centre (phone 029 2087 3888), that a centre in the city rents mobility aids to people with limited mobility (phone 029 2039 9355), and links to a Blue Badge parking map. It also says the stalls are spaced to leave room to browse even when it is busy.
How can a maker take a stall?
Through the Take Part pages of the market's website. The market welcomes arts and crafts made by the exhibitor or their family, and offers low-cost Taster Stalls for makers new to the market. Application forms are sent on request through the Take Part pages; there is no cut-off date for applications, and the market recommends applying as early as possible. Stalls are the market's own outdoor wooden stalls, 2.5m by 2.5m, and full-event and part-period bookings are both offered.
