Banchory Show
Banchory Show is the yearly gathering of the Deeside Agricultural Association, a society founded in 1820 to let local farmers display their stock, first on the Market Stance in Banchory. Since 1959 it has made its home at King George V Park. Cattle, sheep, horses and ponies are judged from the morning, building to the overall champions, the Champion of Champions and a grand parade of livestock. Around the rings there is Highland dancing, pipe band music, sheep shearing demonstrations, a tug o' war, a scarecrow competition and races for the children, while runners head off on the Scolty Hill Race to the tower and back. Cookery, crafts and floral art entries are on show, a companion dog show takes entries on the day, and the marquee dance is for over-18s.
