Ashover Show

Wednesday 11 August 2027
Rectory Fields, Ashover, Derbyshire(S45 0BA)

Ashover Show has made its home on Rectory Fields in the Derbyshire village of Ashover since its first outing in 1925, leaving only once, in 1927, for a farm close by, and 2027 brings the 94th. It grew from a 1924 meeting in Kelstedge to restart the little shows and ploughing matches the First World War had halted, and the Ashover Light Railway once ran special trains in from Clay Cross for it. Still run by volunteers, it now expects more than 16,000 visitors. Cattle of many breeds fill an open-sided marquee, heavy horses range from working animals to mares with foals, and there are sheep, poultry, show jumping, vintage tractors and stationary engines. The Craft Marquee and the Appetising Ashover food hall add to the day, parking is free, and dogs are welcome on a short lead.
